Attorneys Mike Patterson and Shannon Talamo presented at the Baton Rouge Bar Association's 2026 Bench Bar Conference
Long Law Firm attorneys Mike Patterson and Shannon Talamo had the pleasure of presenting their CLE: “Non-Hearsay by Definition: Navigating the Dark Waters of La. C.E. Article 801(D)” at the Baton Rouge Bar Association’s 2026 Bench Bar Conference in July at The Lodge at Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
The presentation explores a unique and often overlooked area of Louisiana evidence law—statements classified as “non-hearsay by definition” under La. C.E. art. 801(D)—and how attorneys can use the rule effectively in preparing and presenting their cases. Rather than relying on a traditional lecture format, Mike and Shannon incorporated original film vignettes, creative videos, and practical courtroom scenarios to illustrate how Article 801(D) arises in real-world litigation and to help attorneys better identify and position these evidentiary issues before they reach the courtroom.
On August 26, an encore performance took place in Baton Rouge for members of the Wex S. Malone American Inns of Court.
Long Law Firm is proud to continue contributing to continuing legal education and meaningful discussion within Louisiana’s legal community.
