Born in Tempe, Arizona, Melissa moved to Louisiana to play Division I soccer at Nicholls State University. During law school, Melissa was published in the Southern University Journal of Race, Gender and Poverty, clerked for Long Law Firm, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Louisiana, and the Louisiana Court of Appeal for the First Circuit for Judge Jewel E. Welch, Jr.  In 2017, Melissa was admitted to practice law in Louisiana and joined Long Law Firm as an associate attorney.
