Adrian Nadeau recognized for his community service
As a young lawyer, Adrian Nadeau heard a presentation by a woman who was teaching a life skills program at Valley Park School in Baton Rouge, Vicki Ellis. Nadeau, now a partner at Long Law Firm, was immediately drawn to her and her mission, and agreed to spend an hour a week with the children as a mentor. Those early efforts led to what is now Heritage Ranch, a Christian children's home for youth experiencing personal crisis. The Ranch, which uses a model of a house parent couple living in the home with the children, currently serves boys ages

12 to 16. The child's parent or legal guardian agrees to have the child move onto the Ranch, with the goal being reunification of the family. The facility provides both individual and family counseling, tutoring and other support. It also provides a constant model of a positive family dynamic. "It really, in my mind, addresses the root problem of whatever is going on with this child and this family," Nadeau says. Nadeau says the ultimate goal is for Heritage Ranch to have eight to 10 homes, serving 60 to 80 youth, both boys and girls. Nadeau was involved in Heritage Ranch from the start, serving on the site acquisition and development committee, which located and helped acquire a piece of property in Zachary for the Ranch's facilities. He is the immediate past chairman of the Board of Directors, and currently serves on the Board of Advisors.
